  The Hercules was developed by the USA to perform tactical transportation roles in the early 1950s.  It came out as a turboprop-engine tactical transport with good short-field performance from rough airstrips.  According to changing demands, many variants of the C-130 were built with little external change to the basic design.  when the first production C-130A flew on April 7, 1955,, it was being exported to more than 60 countries.  Total production was over 2,000 up to mid 1995.
